I'm big on making New Year's resolutions.  To be honest, I don't always keep them though.  You might wonder what's the point of making a resolution then; but for me, there's something about the energy surrounding the beginning of a new year--the hope, the possibility--that keeps me resolute in my resolution making each year.

There’s this saying you may have heard of, ”When you’re going through hell, keep going...” by Winston Churchill.  Well, it may not have been from Winston Churchill.  It's origin is uncertain.  I learned it in the context of working in family law; and it was advice my boss doled out to divorcing clients often.

Jamie's Thoughts: The Girl with the Blue Plastic Mitt


Have you ever tried to remember the exact moment you started to define yourself?  That instant when you "knew" you were decidedly one thing and not something else.  It's hard to remember, isn't it? I know I can't remember.  But at some point, I decided I was not an athletic person.  That definition dictated a whole host of choices in my life.  However, my recent experience in joining a boot camp has turned everything I thought I knew about myself upside down.

Jamie's Thoughts: I Gained and Lost Weight Eating Paleo -- What Gives?!


I'm not ashamed to admit that I came to Paleo to lose weight. I did.  But I stayed for the nutrient-dense, healthy, happy, super energy-filled lifestyle it affords me.  I feel great.  But--I did not lose weight on Paleo, at least not at first.
