For some reason, pineapple upside down cake has been on my brain lately. So, I knew it was time for me to come up with a Paleo-friendly alternative.

That's just how this recipe came about. It was borne out of a pineapple upside down cake craving. I decided I'd try to make one with apples, cinnamon, and toasted pecans, instead of the traditional pineapple with maraschino cherries.

The trickiest thing about this is arranging the apples on the bottom of the pan. Here's a little picture so you can see what it should look like:

Doesn't that look yummy?!?!

And here's what it should look like after you bake it and flip it over onto a plate:

As usual, this recipe doesn't require a whole bunch of specialty ingredients. It can be prepared mostly with whatever you have in your kitchen, plus some apples.

I enjoy a smoothie almost every morning. And this recipe is a variation on the first smoothie I ever came to love: a Strawberry Mango Smoothie.

So, I first started drinking smoothies back in 2005 when I saw a holistic practitioner who put me on a three-week cleansing diet. That diet was very similar to Paleo. And as part of the cleanse, I had to make these smoothies with a supplement powder, called Clear Vite. I still use Clear Vite to this day, if you can believe it. I started experimenting with different smoothie flavors, but I came to really adore the strawberry-mango combination of flavors. Back then I also used to add a little bit of pineapple juice.

So, this recipe is a take on that initial strawberry-mango smoothie I came to love. This recipe includes leafy greens, which gives it that green color. It also includes almond milk, which is surprisingly high in calcium, and coconut milk, which helps give it a creamy texture.

This smoothie is really great if you are new to adding greens to your smoothie or just new to smoothies in general. I hope it gives you all the same burst of energy in the morning as it does me! <3 --J

I am a big fan of the Epic Bar line of products. I've done several blog post reviews when they launch new products. And when I stumbled upon the new Venison Epic Bar, I knew I had to try it right away.
Let me tell you a little bit about this new Epic Bar. The Venison is sourced from grass fed deer. One bar is 80 calories, with a whopping 12 grams of protein, 0 grams of sugar, and an amazing 25% daily value of calcium and 10% iron. This is such a great bar if you are trying to make your macros without eating those crappy, synthetic bars you find on the market.

I tried this bar after I got back from vacation in San Diego. I had a super indulgent long weekend--too much drinking with the girls and Paleo deviations. Yea. I had a cupcake. A real one. But because I hadn't been fueling my body as I normally do with lots of nutrient dense food, I felt kind of tired and cranky to be back at work. After I had this bar for a snack, I immediately felt a burst of energy! Yep. That's what quality-sourced food will do for you, right? And I'm not even being paid to write this, folks.

Now for the flavor. I really enjoyed it. It's just right. Meaty. Seasoned well, but not too much. Flavor-packed, not too gamey, not too dry. It might just be replacing the Chicken Sriracha flavor as my favorite Epic Bar.

So if you weren't sure--I definitely recommend this Epic Bar flavor.

What do you do when you have a wicked craving for chocolate, you've raided your cabinets, and there's just nothing to satisfy it? You make a mug cake, of course!
The other night I had a chocolate craving that would just not go away. I considered heading out to the grocery store to pick something up, until I realized that I could whip something up myself.

But I did not want to wait. I wanted immediate gratification. That's where this magical mug cake comes into play. Guys--this mug cake is actually really satisfying. It takes care of the chocolate craving without making you feel gross afterwards or putting you into a sugar coma. It's chocolate-y and cake-y and has melt-y chocolate chips in it. Yum! This recipe can go from mixing bowl to belly in less than 6 minutes. No joke.
I'm having lots of fun experimenting with Otto's cassava flour. I'm going to spend some more time working with it before I post a review. But this recipe is just one example of my Paleo-friendly baking adventure with cassava flour! Hope you all enjoy this super simple but rich and indulgent Paleo Chocolate Chocolate Chip Mug Cake. --J

Summertime reminds me of fresh, juicy and red ripe tomatoes from back home in Pennsylvania. And there's no better way to enjoy the seasonal bounty than a BLT sandwich.

Back in Pennsylvania, I used to eat fresh tomatoes all the time. Tomatoes were everywhere. My grandma tended to her own tomato garden and had plenty to spare. But you could also buy them from Amish farmers at roadside stands.

There's nothing like a fresh, summer tomato grown right in your own town. I'd just slice them and salt them. Or, I'd make fried tomato sandwiches. Of course, I'd make BLT sandwiches too.

Since summertime reminds me of tomatoes and sandwiches, I set to work to create a Paleo-friendly BLT sandwich using Otto's Cassava Flour. I'm still getting used to working with this new Paleo-friendly flour, but it certainly is nice to have a new alternative.

Guys, this pita sandwich is so simple and so good! Bacon. Yum. Pita. Yum. Fresh tomatoes. Yum! I hope you all enjoy. <3 --J

Coffee cake has been on my mind lately for some reason. I think probably because it reminds me of being young and of my mom.

I can remember my mom making coffee cake when she wanted a sweet treat but didn't really have a lot of ingredients in the house. It always felt so magical to me that something so tasty could be made with regular pantry ingredients we had on hand everyday. Coffee cake reminds me very much of my childhood.
So, I set out to re-create the no-frills coffee cake my mom used to make me. And that's what we have here in this recipe. Not too many ingredients. I did include cassava flour, which could be substituted for almond flour, if you don't want to deal with the hassle of using two flours. But the crumb texture might not be quite the same as a warning. This coffee cake could easily be made after work one night for the next morning. I can attest to the fact that that it pairs delightfully with a cup of coffee in the morning. So much yum. Hope you all enjoy! ---J
This recipe is super easy to make. Just throw everything in, and let the slow cooker work its magic. It would be perfect to throw in the crock pot before you head out to work for the day, so that you have something delicious for dinner when you return. I like to eat this over salads for lunch, or on gluten free sandwich bread with my Cranberry Sauce, or even just as a side with some Creamy Cauliflower Puree and sauteed greens. You can mix the leftover onions and carrots with the turkey after you shred it, or you can puree it with an immersion blender and make a simple, flavorful and flourless gravy.

Guess what?! Cranberry sauce isn't just for Thanksgiving anymore...
So, there's this sandwich shop in our little town that makes this turkey cranberry sandwich that is so delicious. I have not had it in years. The other day my boyfriend told me he was really craving it. And I thought--that's definitely something I can make sorta Paleo-ish.

I made some roasted turkey tenderloin in the crock pot. So yum. Watch out for that recipe soon to follow on the blog. I bought the sandwich rolls from this wonderful gluten free bakery in the San Francisco Ferry Building, Mariposa. And of course, I made my Paleo Mayo.

I was just going to buy some cranberry sauce, but then I looked at the options. Guys--that canned cranberry sauce you buy at the grocery store has got a bunch of crap in it, including high fructose corn syrup. Watch out. I'm so far down the Paleo rabbit hole that I sometimes forget that companies still put that junk in things. Check, check, check ingredients.

Having no other options, I set out to make my own cranberry sauce. It is SO easy, folks. And the best part of it all is that you can adjust the sweet-tart level to your own liking. You just put some cranberries in a sauce pan with some Paleo-friendly sweetener and a little water and you let it cook down. Simple as that. Cranberry is not just for Thanksgiving any more guys.

Hope you all enjoy! --J

Vital Proteins was a generous sponsor of the giveaway that I was running with some other Paleo bloggers this month. And they sent me some of their products to try out and review for you all.

I have so much respect for companies that are so confident and proud of their product that they are generous-generous with samples and donations and the like. It means that they KNOW you will want to buy more.

Vital Proteins sent me two things to try: Collagen Peptides and Beauty Greens. Their Collagen Peptides are sourced from pastured, grass-fed cows and dissolve in hot or cold water. Yay! According to the Vital Proteins website, "Collagen peptides contain the same amino acids as gelatin which are identical to the protein found in skin, nails, hair, bones, cartilage, and joints." It's gluten free and non-GMO. Their Beauty Greens product is a "nourishing elixir" that "combines marine collagen with raw organic greens, hyaluronic acid, and probiotics." It's flavored with organic coconut water and Madagascar vanilla beans. Wow. You get the point: these products contain quality ingredients. Isn't that what Paleo is all about, anyway?!

I heart the Collagen Peptides. I incorporate them as a Paleo-friendly protein powder source for my pre-workout Protein Smoothie. There are 18 grams of protein per serving! You could use either the Collagen Peptides or the Beauty Greens in a, smoothie recipe, but this is a great and clean Paleo source of protein (though collagen is not a complete protein because it does not contain all the essential amino acids), especially for those of us who do not tolerate whey very well.

Collagen is wonderful for healthy skin, joints, and bones. I also personally find that it helps with those pesky sugar cravings. It also can be a fat loss aid. I like to put some in my hot black tea as a snack: Collagen Tea. The Vital Proteins website is a great resource for information about the health benefits and research on collagen: Collagen Research.

The Beauty Greens product is made with marine collagen but has the added benefit of probiotics and, of course, organic greens! My boyfriend loves this product and has started incorporating it into his morning smoothie, while I prefer the Collagen Peptides because they are flavorless. While I find the Beauty Greens to be an amazingly quality product, I did not enjoy the taste.

The Vital Proteins products are of the highest quality, and since I started using them, I've noticed a difference in my skin, hair (it grows like a weed, and nails.

I absolutely recommend that you check out the Vital Proteins website and look at what they have to offer: gelatin, whey protein (in various flavors), marine collagen, Type II cartilage collagen capsules, developed with Dr. Kaayla Daniel, and beef liver capsules.

Hope you find this helpful! <3 --J
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: x-large;">Hi everyone, my name is Kristina and I run the blog kavebabe.com. and @kavebabe on Instagram. I have just started in this blogging world about a year ago and I am so excited to partake in this huge giveaway with all these amazing bloggers. I started eating Paleo on and off a few years ago and became hooked when I realized every time I stuck with it, all my digestive issues went away. This led to an obsession with nutrition and health and trying to be the healthiest I can be. I started getting asked by friends and family for diet advice so I decided to make my passion into a profession. I am currently studying nutrition, hoping to get my degree in the next couple of years. I also love blogging about the latest beauty products, Paleo recipes, lifestyle tips, and of course my adorable puppy! I hope to continue blogging about my lifestyle and making it into my career.

Well, this recipe is a great substitute for those casseroles you might have enjoyed back in the day without any of the garbage. If you want it a little creamier, you can add one less egg and a little more mayo. Oh, and don't eat all the crispy shallots before the casserole is done cooking, like me!

If you've read my recipe for Stuffed Shrimp, you know I've used Treeline Treenut Cheese. But I have to say that I love this product so much that I thought i'd devote a post to it.

Treeline is a dairy -free, soy free, gluten free, and non-GMO, cultured, probiotic nut cheese made from cashews. Whew. That was a mouthful. Said another way--There's no crap in it, and it's got probiotics as an added benefit. Consequently, those probiotics are what give it the tangy cheese-like flavor that made this product so wonderful. Yum.

Treeline products are vegan-friendly, and their website goes a long way to demonstrate their devotion to the humane treatment of animals. I so respect ethics in business. I've often felt that vegans and Paleo-ers aren't so far off from one another. Largely because we both avoid dairy, and that can be a little trickly.

Treeline offers hard and soft nut cheeses. Though I must confess, I've only sampled the soft, French-style nut cheeses. They offer aged, hard nut cheeses in classic and cracked black pepper flavors. The soft cheeses come in scallion, chipotle serrano pepper flavor, green peppercorn, and garlic herb flavor.

I love, love, love these cheeses. I am sensitive to dairy, and I really have to limit my intake to just about zero. But I SO miss cheese. Treeline products really help satisfy that craving for me. When vegan products like this exist, there really is no reason to fall off the Paleo, dairy-free wagon.

You can't find Treeline nut cheeses everywhere yet, but Whole Foods and Natural Grocers both carry Treeline. Seriously. I can't recommend these products enough. Can you even imagine how they'd taste with Cappellos lasagna noodles?! Mmmmm. Paleo lasagna heaven. That experiment might just be in the near future.

Hope this helps any of you who may be missing cheese on Paleo just like me. --J

My version is strawberry, chocolate and avocado. Yum, yum! And even better, it's made with only frozen bananas as the base?! Give it a try, and if you're feeling adventurous - add some dried fruit/nuts to add a little texture. Hope you enjoy! --J

This past week, I tried out a pescatarian diet to see how I'd feel. But that got abandoned quickly when I had the idea to make Paleo a dish I used to enjoy when I was in college: Bacon Wrapped Shrimp Stuffed with Pineapple, Green Pepper and "Cheese." And boy am I glad I did!

This recipe is making me a "bacon makes everything better" believer. After being pescatarian for a week, eating bacon totally made fireworks go off in my brain. But I totally had been craving this recipe. I had to make it.

You see, when I was in college, I used to spend my summers on South Padre Island, Texas with a big group of friends. I have some very fond memories of those summers. What an amazing time in my life! But at least once every summer, we used to cook a seafood feast for ourselves. My one friend, who was an SPI native, knew his way around the kitchen when it came to shrimp. By far, the crowd favorite was bacon wrapped shrimp with pineapple, green pepper and cream cheese. It was SO delicious, and that's what I've been craving lately.

So I set out to Paleo-ize that summer favorite. I guess I'm putting a pause on the whole pescatarian thing. But I disgress. To make this recipe Paleo, the main issue really was the cheese. If you are primal, feel free to substitute the nut cheese for cream cheese. I just don't do well with dairy myself, so I was thankful to find the Treeline brand of nut cheeses. Blog post review soon to follow! But spoiler alert, I love, love love their French-style nut cheeses! Treeline products really satisfy that unique dairy taste for me without the negative digestive consequences I'd normally suffer. Oh and they have probiotics. Score!

Back to the recipe. I'm really proud of this one, guys. It's one of those recipes that is so delicious, I feel all smug about it being Paleo too. One need not sacrifice flavor or taste on Paleo. This is my Paleo mantra.

You could totally make these as an appetizer or as a main course. After you try them, I think you'll find plenty of reasons to make them again. Hope you all enjoy! --J

When I was in college, I used to think that I was too much a modern woman to learn how to cook. I wasn't the only one. A friend of mine would often quip that she had never. touched. raw chicken?!? You can probably guess that my then-diet consisted largely of take out and pre-prepared foods. It's no wonder I ended up gaining 15 pounds in college...

I write this post to all of you who may believe that cooking is not your thing. To all of you--men and women alike--who may think cooking is just for housewives, moms, and grandmas. Oh or restaurant chefs. To all of you who think that you are too busy to cook---Here's the deal: You are human. You are on this earth. You should know how to feed yourself. And by feeding yourself, I don't mean peeling back foil and putting a plastic dish in the microwave or heading to the drive thru. I mean home cooking. Otherwise, you're ceding control over your own health.

Let me tell you something. If you are working on trying to improve your health, I can think of no better way than to properly nourish your body. Well that and getting sleep and exercising. But i'm getting off track here. I think I've used this analogy often, but it's like putting fuel in a car. With bad fuel, your car might not run at all. Or it might run inefficiently. Or it might break down entirely. And so it is with food.

Unfortunately, in this country, we've become so far removed from food sourcing and food preparation that taking ownership of nourishing yourself with whole, real food can feel daunting. We've grown up in an era where fast, processed food is king because only it can keep up with the pace of our insta-tweeting, screen-obsessed, text-messaging crazed lives. And slow food, well slow food just can't keep up with that kind of lifestyle.

I've learned to nourish myself and to cook in tandem because one habit supports the other. Without cooking food that satisfies my palate, I'd never make it on Paleo. When you learn how to cook food you love, food you love even more than McDonalds or whatever your vice may be, food that suits your palate, that's a very powerful place to be. When you learn that you can make a dish that's better tasting and that makes you feel better than eating a candy bar --good decisions naturally follow.

I'm not suggesting we all need to become chefs. But I do believe that if you are new to Paleo and trying to navigate this lifestyle without doing any cooking whatsoever, well, that's a recipe for disaster (Sorry for the pun!) Google some Paleo recipes that look yummy to you. There are so many options out there. Try them, and then repeat until you have some dishes in your repertoire that can keep you going without feeling like you are suffering or doing without. Once you learn how to make whole, healthy, nourishing, enjoyable food you love, you'll forget about those donuts. Go bake yourself some Paleo muffins instead.

I know that this blog post is a dose of tough love. But I have to say that cooking has been integral to my health journey. Absolutely essential. I now find my cook ups wonderful, therapeutic times that I really enjoy and am so grateful for. You may never feel quite that way about cooking, but I guarantee you'll find your Paleo journey will get a lot easier once you take control of feeding yourself.

Did you even know that you can roast radishes? I sure didn't until I was at a French restaurant with a friend one day. I have to say--I was intrigued.

The cool thing about roasting radishes is that they get a little browned, and the bite that raw radishes usually have mellows a lot. Radishes don't store well in the fridge, in my experience. So, if you buy a bunch of radishes, only intending to use a couple raw ones, this is a great way to use the rest.

This really isn't a recipe. It's more like an idea, just in case it never occurred to you to roast a radish before. Give it a try--it's super simple and yummy. Hope you all enjoy! --J

I so love this recipe, guys. The lemon dill sauce that goes over the salmon is divine. Believe me, you'll want to find other things to slather it on.

The inspiration for this recipe started out like so many others: salmon in my freezer. And making fish is one of my favorite weeknight entrees because it is oh-so-easy and quick cooking.

This recipe includes one of my favorite techniques when it comes to working with fish. And that's rubbing it with some lemon to start. It really brightens up the fish.

The sauce uses my Paleo Mayo recipe (oh Paleo mayo, how amazingly tasty and versatile you are). But it really was inspired by a Persian dish called mast-o-musir. Mast-o-musir is a dipping sauce that's just yogurt and shallots. Take some pita or chips and dip it in the mast-o-musir, and I guarantee you, you won't stop!

Last but not least, I put a lot of shallots in the sauce, and if you want a little less bit, you might reduce the amount of shallots in the sauce or soak in water first to remove some of the bite.

Anyway, this dish is delicious and simple to cook, which makes it great for a regular weeknight dinner or a special occasion. Hope you enjoy! --J

Sun Basket is a meal kit delivery service based out of the Bay Area. Chef Justine Kelly, formerly of the well-known San Francisco restaurant, Slanted Door, works with local farmers to provide excellent ingredients for her recipes. The produce is organic and non-GMO, and the sourcing of the ingredients is responsible--so, think grass-fed meats, sustainably sourced fish, and pastured eggs. But how is it in practice, you ask?

I received my Sun Basket (pictured at the top) on a Tuesday because that's just when it arrives. There is no option for any alternative delivery date. You confirm some time the week before for delivery the following Tuesday. The packaging is quite nice, with ample insulation and cold-packs. In fact, you can even recycle it by using the printable labels on their website.
The first night I made the salmon puttanesca because I wanted the fish to be as fresh as possible. First off, the quality of the ingredients is beyond reproach. Stunning. See those garlic cloves in the above photo? Some of the most perfect-looking garlic cloves I've ever come across. They must do some serious quality control at Sun Basket.

Sun Basket provides recipe cards for each meal with very simple and easy instructions. They say that each recipe takes about 10 minutes of prep and about 25 minutes cooking time. Roughly. Some do vary. I must say, though, that I believe the cooking/prep times to be inaccurate. Each recipe, by the time prep and cooking was all said and done, took at least an hour. And that's time I'm not used to spending in the kitchen on weeknights because I usually do all my meal prep over the weekend. My stomach was growling.
The next night I decided to make the beef stir fry, because I was really craving beef. The beef stir fry was good, but not great. The sauce was a little watery, and I think it's a little too easy to overcook the beef. But nevertheless, it was solid.

Ginger turkey meatballs with coconut milk broth.

It makes tons of sense that this was the best, since the chef has quite a bit of experience working with these ingredients at Slanted Door. The dish was packed with flavor and left me licking my bowl--and marshaling every last ounce of willpower not to eat the portion I set aside for my boyfriend.

The only downside to this recipe is that the meatballs were crazy wet. The recipe suggested freezing them for ten minutes so they'd be easier to form. I froze them for 20 minutes, and they were still way too wet and hard to work with. Fortunately, the flavor was so amazing that I soon forgot about my meatball-forming woes.

My boyfriend certainly loved this service, mostly because he was a beneficiary of this little experiment every night he came home from work. All in all, I think Sun Basket is really a positive meal kit experience, and I would definitely recommend giving it a try. --J

P.S. As always, my little disclaimer is that I was not paid to write this review, and I did not receive any free products.

Deviled eggs are one of my most favorite picnic foods. For that reason, and because they are oh-so-easy to make, they were one of the first things I ever learned to cook. So this week, i'm fancying up the good old deviled egg.

This recipe doesn't really have an intriguing origin story. One day, it just occurred to me that the ingredients for deviled eggs and the ingredients for bearnaise sauce are not so far off--maybe they can be combined somehow? And well, simple as that. That's how this recipe came about.

Bearnaise is a French sauce made with clarified butter, egg yolks, white wine vinegar, and herbs like tarragon. It's rich, smooth, and often used on steaks. Bearnaise is often referred to as the mother sauce of hollandaise.

Back to the recipe at hand. This recipe is so very easy to make. I always say that though, don't I? Believe me--if you can make deviled eggs, you can make this recipe AND it a beautiful (and impressive) dish to bring to parties.

Plus, once you make crispy shallots on your own, you'll start looking for more excuses to make and use them. Crispy shallots are little bits of crunchy goodness packed with onion-y flavor. Yum--Hope you all enjoy! --J

This blog post is about an "online shopping club" I just started using called Thrive Market. I've heard it described as an online retailer that's like WholeFoods and Costco having a baby. If you can picture that...

I just love that description because it's so true! Thrive Market is an online "socially conscious" retailer that provides wholesale prices on some of your favorite organic and non-GMO products.

There is a subscription fee of about $60, but they offer a free 30-day trial to try it out. However, I think that if you start buying your Paleo staples from this service, you'll see that with the great prices the $60 price of admission is totally worth it. According to the Thrive website, when you pay an annual fee, that fee sponsors the fee for a low income family to become Thrive members too. That's good to know!

Shipping on orders over $49 is free and they have a bunch of different member offers if you place an order above a certain amount (over $99), like free coconut oil or Paleo mayo. You just gotta be on the lookout, but it seems like they always have some deal going on.

I signed up for Thrive when they were offering a 25% discount on new orders and a free beef bone broth. (Woohoo!). Plus shipping was free for an order over $49. I purchased a box of Epic Bars, this amazing and oh-so affordable Thrive-branded ghee, the free bone broth, and tons of my favorite Inka plantain chips. On top of the 25% to 50% discounted prices, I saved an additional $23 with the 25% new order discount and the free bone broth. It really was a no-brainer to give it a try.

So what's the verdict? I really love Thrive. Epic Bars are usually so expensive, so buying through Thrive saves me a ton of money. Plus, their branded ghee is awesome. The options at the natural grocery store made buying ghee a little cost-prohibitive, but at Thrive costs, I can afford to make ghee one of my go-to cooking oils. Yay! The price on my oft-purchased plantain chips was a good deal over the retail prices I pay at the local grocery store as well. Overall, I'm really glad I signed up.
As always, here's my little disclaimer. Thrive did not pay me or offer me any products to write this product review. I just really appreciate the service, and I feel like it's been really helpful to me. Hope this helps all of you! -- J
I am a firm believer that any vegetable can be made to taste delicious. It's all in the preparation. Except for beets. Beets are the devil... But I digress, yes, any vegetable can be made into something delicious. (Except beets, haha).

Kale is just one of those things I never got into. It has a distinctive flavor. It 's earthiness can definitely overpower the flavor of a dish. And it's tough and the edges are coarse. To me, it just screams "don't eat me." But the health benefits of eating a nutrient-packed powerhouse leafy green like kale cannot be ignored. And they especially can't be ignored when they show up in my Imperfect Produce box for the week. Oops.

So, I set to work to make the kale into something I actually wanted to eat. This meant adding tons of flavor through duck fat, chicken broth, lots of garlic, and fresh lemon juice or apple cider vinegar.

And boy is it yummy. With this simple, fast, and flavorful recipe, there is no reason kale should ever go bad in your fridge (as it has in mine before). Whip up this sauteed kale real quick on a weeknight for a nutritious side.

Hope you all enjoy this recipe--oh and go out and buy some duck fat for roasting and sauteeing veggies. You'll thank me! --J

You may have noticed that I've been talking a lot about this new produce delivery service called Imperfect Produce. And I thought I'd take a moment to do a quick review of their service.

Imperfect Produce is a Bay Area produce delivery service that sources "ugly" fruits and vegetables or surpluses from local farms that would otherwise go to waste. That makes it extremely affordable.

You can get a mixed produce box, a vegetable box, or a fruit box in four different sizes (S, M, L, XL.) They even have all organic box options.

Imperfect produce delivers to multiple Bay Area public locations and offers home delivery to some areas too. Fortunately, home delivery is offered where I live. Yippee!

Before I launch into my feelings on this service, I just want to give a little disclaimer in that I am not being paid to write this review. I just find the service so valuable that I wanted to share.

The picture above is of a small organic produce box. I got 2 pounds of sweet potatoes, 1 pound of zucchini, 1 pound of cameo apples, 1 pound of lemons, 1 pound of valencia oranges, 1 pound of watermelon radishes, and 2 heads of butter lettuce. This was one of my favorite boxes I've ever received. I mean--watermelon radishes!?! They aren't the kind of thing you work with as a home cook everyday. I feel like this service is like getting a discounted price on designer clothes. And yeah, in this analogy, watermelon radishes are the designer clothes. That's how excited I get about hard to come by produce.

Anyway, that's the other thing I love about this service. It gets me to try stuff I might not normally buy on my own when left to my own devices, you know. I have to confess that I haven't been the biggest fan of kale, but thanks to the Imperfect Produce box I got this week, I've got a pretty tasty kale recipe coming your way.

To give you the quick conclusion (in case you haven't already figured it out), I love this service. I totally recommend it because it's a convenient, affordable way to enjoy quality local seasonal produce. And that's totally Paleo. ---JFaganEatsPaleohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11983889218652745654noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2361379163562827420.post-84026078864205205702016-04-01T03:00:00.000-07:002016-04-01T14:22:45.947-07:00Fagan Eats Paleo Recipe: Paleo Chicken Pizza Poppers

I don't know about you, but I miss eating chicken nuggets sometimes; that experience of eating bite-sized chicken pieces and dipping them in sauces. Yum. Not the easiest to recreate on Paleo though. But I think my new recipe does the trick...

You see, if I see a long ingredient list in a recipe, I move on. It feels too daunting if I have to buy a bunch of things to use just once. That's why I aim to make recipes super simple, mostly with stuff you might have around the house. And this recipe is no exception.

Here, I was hoping to create something fun that would work as a chicken nugget substitute without a bunch of fuss. Something I might try to make on a weeknight. This recipe strikes that balance. These Chicken Pizza Poppers would be great for kids too. But I must admit, I haven't had a chance to test that theory! If you do, let me know what the verdict happens to be.

Hope you all find these fun to eat. Enjoy! --J
